The Environmental Division shall gather, collate, analyse, publish and disseminate information relevant to environmental matters.

This Act makes provision for the conservation and maintenance of the environment in the interest of health generallv and in particular in relation to places frequented by the public.
Active transparency (Section 7 (c))
Right to appeal (Sections 10(7) and 17(1))
A person who is dissatisfied with the terns and conditions attached to a certificate of approval or the variation of any terms and conditions contained in a certificate of approval may appeal to the Minister within fourteen days of being notified of such decision.
Any person having an estate or interest in the premises to which the notice to execute certain workds relates may at any time before the expiration of the period of time specified in the notice appeal to a Judge in Chambers against that notice.
A person aggrieved by a decision of any functionary who is authorised to act under this Act or any regulations made thereunder may appeal, by way of complatin, against that decision to the magistrate that has jurisdiction in the district in which the aggrieved person resides.
Liability and proof of environmental harm (reversal of onus of proof, liability) (Section 30)
Where any act or thing is by the Act or the Regulations prohibited or prescribed, the duty of seeing that such prohibition ot prescription is complied with rests upon the person to whom the prohibition or prescription relates. The burdern of proving that such prohibition or prescription was complied with rests with that person.
